Subject

First and foremost, highlighting the subject is most important in portrait photography.    In addition to the standard "look at the camera and smile" shots, I try to capture those candid moments that perhaps show a little more of a person's character.

Lighting

Most photographers out there can snap a picture of you smiling and that's in focus. But what makes a photo truly remarkable is something that's often overlooked; the quality of light. This is something that can not be fixed on a computer. I specialize in combining existing light with studio strobes.

Photo Enhancement

I have at my disposal several techniques to "accentuate" your positive characteristics, from simply removing skin blemishes to extreme skin softening (as in airbrushing, seen in this photo). And for those photographs you'll be sending back to grandma, I can remove tattoos and change your hair back from purple to a more "acceptable" hue.

Black and White

I find that portraits often look their best when in Black and White. I use a special "quadtoning" technique to produce my black and white photos. I think this technique provides a richer tones in the photo.

Special Effects

With Photoshop, the possibilities of what I can add to your photos are endless. I shy away from effects that appear "fake"; rather, I try to keep my special effects tasteful. I can add text, create posters, selectively color parts of the photo, etc.
